Year 6 had a great afternoon having a conversation over Skype with the author Frank Cottrell Boyce. The children have been reading his book Millions in literacy and had lots of questions to ask him. Frank chatted to the class for half an hour and even revealed one of his darkest secrets to the children! We hope that this will really inspire the children to read another of his books soon. Miss Shaban and Miss Hough managed to get copies of his new book 'The Astounding Broccoli Boy' to read to the class when they have finished Millions.
March 13th was Red Nose Day at Stanley Road and as usual the children and staff did us proud! We managed to raise over £300 for Comic Relief by dressing in red clothes and wearing funny faces. Miss Bott also organised a photo booth and face painting activities to help raise even more money. Well done to everyone who took part! ![]() To officially launch the new vision for Stanley Road we held a special event for parents and pupils on February 27th. In the morning the children who have been attending Miss Scrivener's art club paraded around the playground with their banners that they had designed and made themselves. In the afternoon we held a celebration event with different stalls showing aspects of our new school vision. Each year group took one of the key words from the vision statement and produced art work, displays and writing about that word. The school choir entertained parents whilst they enjoyed coffee and cakes. Our Commando Joe had his own stall to promote the work he is doing with us to develop the children's responsibility and sense of respect. We had a really good turnout of parents who came to find out more about our new school vision. |
