As many parents will know the way that maths is taught in schools has changed a lot over time and it is not always clear which methods and strategies are the right ones to use. A number of parents have recently asked for us to publish our Math calculation policy online to help them to support their children more effectively. We are pleased to be able to announce that the Calculation Policy is now online and accessible from our website on the Curriculum page or by following this link here. We hope you find it useful to support your child with their learning in maths.
On Tuesday 26th April we held a successful coffee morning and book sale and managed to raise over £330 for the school. A big thank you to all the parents, children and staff who helped out to make this such a success. In particular, the parents fundraising group deserve a special mention for baking all the cakes and helping to sell them.
These events are part of our drive to encourage children to read for pleasure so it is brilliant to see so many children eager to spend their money on books and be so enthusiastic about reading. Look at the pictures below to see what we mean! On 21st April we ran a well attended parents' workshop on the work we are doing to promote British Values. Children and staff presented a range of work that we have done in school already to promote this. Parents were enthusiastic and really interested in the work we are doing. We had many positive comments from parents including these -
"It’s really good for children to learn about other’s beliefs and to respect them. Everyone is equal". "I think the workshop is very good and it is amazing how much the children understand." "This will bring all the children together working as one to progress for their future." "I am happy with the way parents are involved." "Having different nationalities in school is good." "It is very good here. Children learn how they can respect each other. Children develop an understanding of what freedom and democracy means. Much has been done. Thank you."
