The final few days of our second Dream It week were a huge success as we were very lucky to have some great visitors in school to talk to the children about their aspirations and the importance of a good work ethic. Here are some pictures of our visits from Oldham Sixth Form and Jim McMahon MP.
We were pleased to have a visit from Joanne James who is a director of a local construction company today. She came in to talk to our Year 6 children about all the different jobs involved in designing and building houses. She talked about how maths skills, in particular, are really important in the construction industry. The children really enjoyed the visit and had the chance to ask some great questions.
Unfortunately, our Bollywood dancing troupe had to cancel at short notice but will be rearranging their visit in the near future. Our Dream It Week is an annual event in school to encourage children to think about their dreams and aspirations for the future. Children have the chance to learn about different careers and opportunities available to them and are encouraged to think about what they want to achieve in life. We have a range of visitors into school to talk about their jobs and how they got there. Last year was a great success and we hope this year will be even better.
To launch our 2017 Dream It Week we were very lucky to have Steve Hill MBE in school to talk about his amazing adventures raising money for charity by completing extreme challenges. He spoke to the whole school about his mountain trekking up Kilimanjaro and marathon running in the desert and the Amazon. He really inspired the children to Dream Big and to persevere even when things get tough. He reminded our children that they can achieve amazing things if they keep working hard and don't give up. A really inspirational start to the week! |
