Our first Dream It Week ended well today with our final visitors to school - a pilot and a BBC researcher. Mel Buchanon who works for Flybe spoke to our Year 1 and Year 3 children about what the job of a pilot entails and the training you need to become one. Mel is one of the only female airline pilots in the UK so it was a real treat to be able to have her in school. The children loved it and had fantastic questions about the life of a pilot. Mel contacted us after the event with this lovely message...
"It was an absolute pleasure meeting all the children and your staff. I would be delighted to come again for your next event. What a brilliant school, great atmosphere and a superb initiative. Thank you!"
Later in the afternoon we had a visit from Thaddaeus Varey who works as an audience researcher for the BBC in Salford. He spoke to our Year 4 children about what an audience researcher does and the importance of being good at maths to do the job.
Although our Dream It week has ended for this year we are already putting plans in place to invite back the many different speakers we have had this year so they can talk to different children about their roles. Our next big themed week will be our Achieve It week in March when children will be learning about how to be healthy and happy in life and have the self confidence and self belief to go onto achieve whatever dreams they may have.
