Year 4 have been busy!
Just before the half term break, we had lots of exciting things going on in year 4.
One of those exciting things being our choral speaking assembly. We had a fantastic turnout of parents who came to watch and we felt incredibly proud!
We performed the song 'Man In the Mirror' by Michael Jackson and a funny poem called 'Something Changes' by Michael Rosen.
The children in Year 4 took part in the Singing Challenge song last week and performed 'A Certain Kind of Imagination' as part of the Science Week in Greater Manchester. They have been practising for weeks and the hard work finally paid off- video to follow (technical problems)!
4SS had their choral speaking class assembly recently. They performed two poems:
'Ancient Egyptians' and 'I tried to do my homework'- they did themselves proud- well done, guys! Video to be uploaded very soon!
Wednesday 24th February was our entry day for our new topic Ancient Egyptians. It was a very creative day working in and out of our classrooms.
In the classroom we each designed and made an Egyptian necklace, a cartouche and jointly created large hieroglyphic displays to hang outside our room.
In small groups we went to the Design and Technology room to bake Egyptian flatbread, which we were able to eat later in the day.
We read the opening to Ted Hughes' story 'The Iron Man' and we created a world around the illustration shown here. We used our imaginations (which included an Iron Palace!) to make predictions as to where he had come from- some of us thought he had used a space rocket to get to the cliff! Have a look at our scenes.
We also collected vocabulary to describe the image in order to create a 'Word Foto' using the Word Foto app on the iPads- we really enjoyed using this! Have a look at our examples!
