![]() Some of our Year 6 children have been practising their times tables skills using the Times Tables Rock Stars website and we are pleased to see that we have topped the league for schools in the local area. It takes our children an average of 4.08 seconds to answer any given times table question - what an achievement! Here is the current league table for 21st June 2017.

Today we are having our annual Summer Readathon where we celebrate reading for pleasure across school. The morning started with a fantastic assembly from Year 6 who have memorised some extremely long Roald Dahl poems from Revolting Rhymes and performed them brilliantly to parents. Each class has a challenge to make sure that at least one person must be reading throughout the day. Our Year 6 Reading Inspectors will be checking on them to see if they can manage it. Last year we even had children reading whilst eating their school dinners! Each class has also received a mystery book which they will open and enjoy at some point in the day. To end the day each teacher has chosen a book to read to whichever children want to listen to it from across school. At the end of the day we will also be holding a book sale in the conference room. Come along after school and pick up a great book from under £3. Our Summer Readathon is always a great event and is an important reminder of the joys of reading. Hopefully your children will come home tonight with an increased enthusiasm for reading! We had a lovely message from one of our volunteers who took part in our book swap afternoon -
"Delightful group. You have the most courteous youngsters ever. A real pleasure to read with them, Mr Wood" |
