We have had a great year at Stanley Road and the children have worked so hard to make great progress in their learning. It is always difficult for the teachers to choose the winners of our progress prize as there are always so many children who have made great progress to choose from.
We also are very proud of the children who achieved 100% attendance over the whole year. Here are our attendance and progress winners for Summer 2016... Our Water Polo team have done us really proud this year by winning the final of the Water Polo Championships in the last two weeks of term. Well done to everyone on the team and the staff who supported them to go on to win the final.
What a fantastic achievement! All the Year 6 children and staff had a great time on today's cinema and restaurant trip. As always they were a credit to the school and really enjoyed watching 'The Secret Life of Pets' and eating out at Chiquito's restaurant afterwards. A number of children had not been to the cinema before so it was nice that they could share their first experience of this with all their friends. Our Y6 children put on a fantastic show in the last week of term. The acting and singing was excellent throughout and the audience of parents really enjoyed the show. Our Ugly Sisters really stole the show and had the audience in stitches. Well done to all the children and staff who made the show a great success. On Friday 17th June we took part in the annual IPLCN inter-school cycling competition at Spotland Primary in Rochdale. Our children had great fun taking part in the different races and were a credit to our school as always.
We had a great day celebrating the language and culture of Spain today. Children came dressed in red and yellow clothes to reflect the colours of the national flag and there were lots of opportunities for children to practise their Spanish speaking skills throughout the day. Our kitchen provided a delicious traditional paella for lunchtime and a Spanish cafe was set up giving children the chance to sample some Spanish snacks.
