We have recently invested about £6000 on new books for children to take home and read from school. Reading is one of the most important skills that children master in primary school and one of the best ways to improve in reading is to practise, practise, practise! Not only do we want children to be able to learn to read we also want children to develop a habit of reading and a love of books that will last them a lifetime.
We are going to be making sure that all children come to school with their reading book, book bag and reading record every day. Teachers will be checking that children are bringing these items in on a daily basis and will be reminding children about the importance of reading at home. We hope you will support us by reminding your children about bringing the things they need and by listening to them read at home, sharing books with them and chatting to them about books.
We hope that you enjoy the brand new books that children will be bringing home. If you have any questions about our approach to reading please contact your child's class teacher.
